  • The five basic project management functions.

Effective Planning Behaviors

  • Developing project goals, objectives - agreements.
  • Work breakdown structures (WBS) - control.
  • Project organization and linear responsibility charts (LRC) - accountability.
  • Scheduling (GANTT, PERT, CPM) - communications.

WORKSHOP: Structuring and Organizing a Project
Participants apply project management tools in organizing. structuring and developing performance baselines for their actual projects. They evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of their approaches based on the information learned in the course.

Day 2

Implementing and Controlling Project Plans

  • Resource planning and control.
  • Budgeting, the project baseline, control.
  • The project execution plan.
  • Monitoring and measuring your project progress.

Project Communications

  • Techniques, strategies and human factors to improve communications.
  • How to conduct effective project meetings.
  • How to use project agendas, action items and minutes.
  • Design of control and management reports.

WORKSHOP: Team and Client Communications
Participants will take the role of project manager of a typical project and are asked to reach a consensus about how specific situations should be handled.

Day 3

Problem Solving Style

  • The effect of creativity, teamwork and communications on your problem solving style and on project performance.
  • Building on your strengths and the strengths of others for enhanced project success.

WORKSHOP: Project Situation
Participants, grouped in their teams, recognize and work with the various problem solving styles of others, in the process of managing a challenging project situation.


PARTICIPATION: Assessment Inventory of Project Management

Participants use this tool to evaluate their project management practices.
