John is an Associate Consultant of Business Management Consultants in Memphis, Tennessee, USA, where he specializes in project management training and consulting with emphases on the project management office.

Formally the worked for FedEx Express where for ten years he worked in the Domestic Ground Operations, Project Management Office (PMO). There he developed their PM methodology, processes, and procedures for starting and managing projects within department. In addition, he assisted other departments in establishing PMO’s, providing training for the staff and helping develop their unique methodology, processes, and procedures.

An accomplished trainer and facilitator, John has taught over 400 FedEx Express employees project management fundamentals and conducted PM workshops for project teams and workgroups. He has worked with major industry leaders, including, Sofamor Danek Medtronic, Hilton Hotels, SAIC, and Lenny’s Franchise Company, providing training and assisting them in developing their internal processes, including deploying Microsoft Project Enterprise.

John’s background and experience has crossed both government and industry. While work for the Department of Defense he had the opportunity to serve on several Secretary of Defense Sub-committees, including the Defense Training Standards Working Group (DTSWG), an effort to standardize training acquisition under the Department of Defense Acquisition Reform initiative. In addition he served on the Automated Training, Evaluation and Acquisition Management sub-committee, a three year effort chartered to establish joint service training standards, which would allow the use and transfer of training data throughout the Department of Defense, academia, and industry.

John has been heavily involved with the Project Management Institute (PMI) at both the local and national level. He is a founding member and served two two-year terms as President of the PMI Memphis TN Chapter; during that time he was awarded Chapter President of the Year, 2002, Chapter of the Year, 2002, Component Leadership Award, 2005, Component Leadership Award, 2006, and Chapter of the Year Award, 2006. He was selected to serve as PMI Component Mentor, 2006 – 2007 and a member of the Component Services Member Advisory Group, 2008 – 2009.
