Mike Provins is a Principal Consultant at Business Management Consultants. He is an experienced trainer, facilitator and consultant, with expertise in the areas of Project Management, Process Improvement, Personal Leadership and Total Quality Management. He has provided his expertise to clients in Canada, the United States and the Middle East, cutting across several industries, in both the public and private sector.

As a trainer, Mike has facilitated well over one hundred and fifty project management workshops, both public & in-house within financial services, telecom, high tech, manufacturing, government and health care sectors in both Canada and the United States. He has also used his knowledge of Six Sigma tools to provide appropriate project management training to Six Sigma trained clients. Mike employs “Accelerated Learning” techniques extensively in all of his programs in order to appeal to a variety of different learning preferences.. His sincere and humorous style puts his clients and students at ease, enabling them to take full advantage of his extensive experience as a trainer, consultant and mentor.

As a project manager Mike has successfully managed scores of projects in a variety of business sectors, some with budgets of several million dollars, some with much smaller budgets focussing on personal & organizational effectiveness. He has also successfully managed a number of high profile process improvement projects, and facilitated strategic & business plans for a number of organizations. He worked overseas for three (3) years as the Senior Consultant for Financial Operations for Saudi Telecom. There, he led a team to implement a multi-million dollar computerized cash payment system from inception to installation in over 100 locations throughout Saudi Arabia. This system has been the backbone of the telecom billing system in Saudi Arabia for several years. He has successfully developed customized project management methodologies for clients by drawing on internal business expertise and creating tools, techniques & templates that are company and industry specific (e.g. electrical utility).

Mike has worked successfully with organizations such as 3M, PPG, Air Canada, Honda Manufacturing, Celestica International, Stream Intelligent Networks, MDS Laboratories, Sprint, Mellon Trust, Saudi Telecom, Leitch Technologies International, Sun Life, Government of Canada, Hoffmann-LaRoche Pharmaceuticals, Amgen Pharmaceuticals, Cami Automotive, Mitra Imaging and Wescast Industries (Automotive supplier).

He held several management positions within Bell Canada in their Network, Customer Service, Provisioning, Maintenance and International divisions spanning a 20 year career. He successfully managed dozens of projects in that period with budgets up to $40 million, culminating in a senior position, managing projects for their three year, company wide, Business Transformation Project.

Mike has an Honors BA in Psychology from McMaster University. He has been “Six Sigma Green Belt” trained and is experienced working with “Six Sigma” clients with respect to project management. He a Master Trainer for the “Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” and is experienced and proficient in the use of various project management, problem solving and process mapping tools. He is an active member of the Project Management Institute and has earned his Project Management Professional Certification.
