Margaret Covert is Director of University Relations with Business Management Consultants and is based in Phoenix, AZ, USA. She is uniquely qualified in to work with universities and colleges both domestically and abroad.
For the past 25 years, Margaret Covert has designed, developed and produced training and development programs for universities and colleges who serve corporations through non-credit executive development and credit programs as well as for the private and public business sector. From 1982 to 1996, she served as Executive Director of Professional Development at San Diego State University, directing a 12 person staff in the production of nearly 200 workshops and seminars each year, serving annually over 8000 registrants. Prior to joining SDSU, she directed non-credit programs at two colleges.
Throughout her career with SDSU, and more recently with UNIVentures, Inc. until 2009, her programs have ranged from the highly technical offerings (i.e. CBT, International SWAPS, IT Project Management) to interpersonal skills such as gender communication, human resources management, and assessments. Training and development formats she’s managed, marketed and provided faculty resources include public seminars and customized on-site training, consulting, coaching and facilitated team activities.
Clients served by her training and consulting management expertise have included such high education organizations as Thunderbird University, University of Minnesota, University of Texas, University of California-Berkeley, Notre Dame, California State Universities, Georgetown University, as well as non-university clients such as the US Navy, National Parks Service, Microsoft, Disney, Yum, to name a few.
Margaret has also worked internationally sending faculty to such locations as Chile, Colombia, Brazil, Greece, Italy, South Africa, U.K., and throughout Latin America, all with USA university sponsors. In that role she also helped design a two year Masters program in Information and Communication Technology for a major Mexican IT Government agency as well as numerous certificate (diploma) programs in such topics as IT Innovation; E-Government and others.
Prior to her career in Executive Education, Margaret taught Anthropology and Sociology in the college setting.
Ms. Covert holds an M.A. degree in Anthropology (Stanford University) and a B.A (San Diego State University). She graduated Summa Cum Laude with highest honors.
