Rita Barrantes is an Associate Consultant with Business Management Consultants based in Houston, TX, USA. In her 11-year career, she has worked in IT projects in multiple industries including Oil, Financial, and Higher Education. She has led project teams in software development, ranging from client/server applications, web-based applications, database management, and decision support systems.
She has held IT positions with Banco de Credito del Peru, a peruvian-based company, working in global projects for its subsidiaries in El Salvador and Peru, and with Sygnus Consulting. Since 2003, Ms. Barrantes has held multiple positions at University of Houston, where she also currently works as Project Manager in the Information Technology department, CIO Project Services Office, and leads IT Top-tier University-wide projects.
Throughout her varied career, Ms. Barrantes has adopted a unique style of performance based on timely delivery and commitment to organizational goals. She is a strong believer and practitioner of the Servant Leader philosophy, through which she promotes team-work, collaboration, and empowerment.
Ms. Barrantes received her B.S. in Systems Engineering from University of Lima, Peru, and M.B.A. with Georgia Southern University with emphasis in Information Technology. She is a member of Project Management Institute (PMI®) and a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) since 2005. She has served on the board of the PMI Houston Chapter.
