Dr. Johns is the founder of Business Management Consultants (BMC). Upon retiring, Dr. Johns serves as the Chairman of BMC's Advisory Council.  Through his 18 collective years at AT&T's Bell Telephone Laboratories and Battelle Memorial Institute in positions of engineer, program manager and general manager, Dr. Johns worked with companies of the Aerospace, Energy, Manufacturing, Electronics, Transportation, Telecommunications and Construction industries. This familiarity together with his international management experience enables Dr. Johns to offer unique assistance to government and industry worldwide based upon considerable management and technical insight.

For more than 18 years, Dr. Johns was actively involved in planning, organizing and directing start-up of new venture companies and acquisitions. He has successfully initiated and managed to profitability the growth of a new venture start-up contract research and development company; initiated a new venture start-up in minerals exploration and mining; directed an international company in engineering and construction management; and initiated and for 21 years has been CEO of BMC, an international management consulting firm with offices in Beijing, Bristol, Brussels, Chicago, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Houston, Islamabad, Istanbul, Jakarta, Lisbon, Nashville, Phoenix, Ottawa, Shanghai, Tokyo and Toronto.

Throughout Dr. Johns' project and general management career, he has developed and applied a management style that has been effective in empowering people. He has found this style together with application of fundamentals of the project management method well suited to people in both government and industry. He translates this style into BMC's internationally renowned training courses, which have been adopted as baselines for effective management of projects in a rapidly growing number of major international corporations and organizations in over 50 different countries and in 15 languages.

Dr. Johns is on the faculty at NASA Academy (Washington D.C.), University of Houston (UH), Singapore Institute of Management (Singapore), The Hong Kong Management Association (Hong Kong) and is a Guest Lecturer at Cambridge University. Dr. Johns is a Certified Professional Engineer, PE, a member the Project Management Institute, PMI®, and is a Certified Project Management Professional, PMP®. Dr. Johns is also a Member of UK Association of Project Management, APM and is a MAPM. Dr. Johns has been a technical reviewer for The International Journal of Project Management the technical publication of International Project Management Association, IPMA. Dr. Johns is a Member of Sigma XI, The Scientific Research Society and was awarded its Outstanding Research Award. He received his BE in Mechanical Engineering from Youngstown State University, and his MS and Ph.D. in Engineering Mechanics from The Ohio State University.
